Questions About Aging: Here Are Two (2) Missouri Resources
As we age our needs can change. Where do we go for answers in finding information and resources?
A good place to start is to contact one of Missouri’s 10 Area Agencies on Aging, also referred to as AAAs. To find the agency in your area you can call the Missouri Senior Resource Line toll-free at 1-800-235-5503, enter your zip code, and get connected to your local Area Agency on Aging.
Aging Ahead is the AAA that serves St. Louis, St. Charles, Franklin and Jefferson counties, operating 19 community senior centers. Several centers serve hot meals, oversee the home delivered meals program, offer educational, recreational and health programs, including health screenings, arts and crafts programs, volunteer opportunities, social programs and a variety of guest presentations and Case Management. The main Aging Ahead location is at 14535 Manchester Rd, Manchester, MO 63011; 636-207-0847; https://www.agingahead.org. At the website you can also sign up to receive their quarterly newsletter.
A very important program operated by the AAAs is Missouri’s Long-term Care Ombudsman Program, whose mission is: To improve the quality of life for residents of long-term care facilities through advocacy and education.
A second resource is the Missouri Division of Health and Senior Service. Their website offers a plethora of valuable information on programs and services offered to Missouri seniors: https://health.mo.gov
As you search these websites, you will find additional resources.
